LATICRETE MVIS™ Air & Water Barrier is a high-performance, single-component, fluid-applied membrane engineered to protect building envelopes from water intrusion and air leakage while providing crack isolation. Designed as part of the LATICRETE Masonry Veneer Installation System (MVIS™), it creates a seamless, flexible membrane behind thin brick, natural stone, manufactured stone, and other approved exterior wall finishes.

Its water-based, self-curing formula bonds directly to a variety of properly prepared substrates and is vapor permeable, helping allow moisture vapor to escape while resisting water penetration. The result is a durable, continuous barrier designed to enhance long-term building performance, energy efficiency, and protection.

Designed for residential, commercial, and industrial wall assemblies, MVIS™ Air & Water Barrier is particularly well suited for use behind adhered masonry veneer, thin brick, natural stone, manufactured stone, and other approved exterior finishes.

It can be applied over properly prepared concrete, CMU, cement plaster, cement backer board, and approved framed wall assemblies to create a durable protective layer before installation of the finished veneer system.

Application & Coverage

MVIS™ Air & Water Barrier is fluid-applied to a clean, sound, and properly prepared substrate to create a continuous membrane.

The membrane is self-curing, with cure times dependent on temperature, humidity, airflow, and application conditions. Follow current LATICRETE requirements for membrane thickness, detailing, transitions, penetrations, and curing before installing subsequent materials.

MVIS™ System Integration

MVIS™ Air & Water Barrier is designed to work as part of the complete LATICRETE Masonry Veneer Installation System. When used with compatible MVIS components—including approved tapes, primers, and polymer-fortified veneer mortars—it helps create an integrated wall system engineered for long-term protection and performance.
